What is the New York State Direct Cash Transfer Research Pilot?

How will my family benefit from participation in the NYS DCT Research Pilot?

  • 150 households in three (3) New York counties to receive $500 per month, unconditionally, over a one-year period, totaling $6,000 per family.

  • Families will receive income disregard waivers whenever possible from the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) for Temporary Assistance (TA) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

  • Families will have access to a Benefits Matrix Tool, which provides information to participants about the potential loss of benefits. If you would like to discuss this tool, please reach out to your assigned project coordinator.

  • Participants are strongly encouraged to participate in benefits counseling in order to make an informed decision regarding participation in the research pilot.

  • Participants will have the ability to apply to a Hold Harmless fund to offset loss of benefits that may have resulted from an individual’s participation in the research pilot.
