Duties:
The Technical Trainer, under the supervision of the Training Coordinator/Supervisor, will be responsible for delivering classroom and virtual training, assisting with the testing of the training database, simulations, as well as curriculum revision, development, and review. The audience for this training includes State staff from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), local district social service (LDSS) staff, subcontractors/agents of local departments of social services, legally exempt enrollment staff, and other authorized agents responsible for licensing, registering, enrolling, and supporting childcare providers, and employees of other agencies deemed eligible by OCFS who provide services/resources for families in State-sponsored employment and self-sufficiency initiatives. The Technical Trainer will carry out all duties and responsibilities listed in detail below.
Support the use of NYS child day care proprietary applications by delivering instructor-led classroom-based and virtual technology training for identified staff.
Travel within NYS and train new and experienced staff on the use of the statewide computer system in online, web-based and lab-based settings.
Provide post-classroom support and technical assistance to users and maintain a working knowledge of system functionality as it is updated and modified.
Complete required reports and documentation as needed and assist in the development and revision of curricular materials, including content development, editing, proofreading, formatting, and document organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or comparable work/school related experience with an emphasis in human performance technology, training, or a related area.
Two years’ experience in technical training for adult learners.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated computer proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and a demonstrates ability to learn new software products and operating systems quickly.
A proven track record of high performance managing multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
Ability to work variable days and work hours and travel regularly throughout NYS, including travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of New York State Child Day Care Regulations.
Familiarity with proprietary software preferred.
Additional Information:
A valid NYS Driver’s license is required.
