YRI Professional Development Scholarship Program

About the Program

YRI is dedicated to supporting the professional growth of our employees. We see this as fundamental to our intentional focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. As an organization, we are committed to offering opportunities for advancement within the organization. Because professional development funding in our budget is limited, YRI plans to raise funds to establish a Leadership Development Scholarship program.

YRI will offer this program on a quarterly or biannual basis depending on funding availability. Staff would have an opportunity to apply for scholarships to support training or professional development that supports progress toward achieving career goals or enhances work-related skills.

Eligible activities include conferences, workshops, seminars, certification programs, memberships, and travel expenses related to professional development. Training and professional development opportunities must be provided by accredited schools or widely recognized professional organizations unless an exception is approved by the applicant’s supervisor and the YRI leadership team. Maximum amount and number of awards will be determined based on amount of funding available, and number of applications received.

Eligible employees are those who have completed their initial probationary period and are in good standing and have not had any documented performance or disciplinary issues for at least one year prior to the scholarship application submission date.

YRI will pay for the training or professional development opportunity directly on behalf of the employee, if possible. Employees will need to provide written proof of training or professional development completion within two months after the opportunity ends.
